- BlackBerry Gives Developer Site a Makeover – FINALLY Testing Out Documentation Comments
BlackBerry announced a nice redesign of their developer microsites across the board. One of the more interesting additions is something I asked their documentation team to implement over 2 years ago. They are testing out the ability for developers to leave comments on the documentation and other pages. This is something that many opensource projects like PHP have and is very useful! Many times its just the ability to add a little wisdom on how you got it to work for others to use in the future. Sadly BlackBerry is testing it out with just the Adobe AIR microsite so it will probably see very little use.
On top of that BlackBerry has merged the Native and Cascades website under Native. I am not sure why it was separate in the first place. They also split off the PlayBook into its own site along with legacy BBOS. Check it out here.

A tremendous thank you to all of our beta testers, as the feedback has been extraordinary, and we've tuned and tweaked the app to provide the very best user experience.

Переслать - Slidedeck for Proposed BlackBerry Bid from 2012 Leaked by Robin Chan
It looks like Silicon Valley Investor Robert Chan tried garnering enough support back in the summer of 2012 to take BlackBerry in a different direction. Chan posted a slide deck today from his secret attempt to buy the company from under its management in what they called Project BBX. His goal was to focus on business as a middleware company on iOS and Android with a focus on Enterprise BYOD sort of like BES 10's workplaces. They would have scrapped the BlackBerry 10 project and focus on their other strengths.
Chan pitched the project between June and August of last year right after Heins took the reigns. They tried reaching out directly to the board but in the end only managed to raise $1 billion when they would need a minimum of $6 billion to pursue their plans. They also had plans for a keyboard device and an all touch device with slide out keyboard along with a 7 inch tablet. Here is the slide deck:
Check out the interesting details over at The Verge and the slide deck above and let us know what you think!

Переслать - Wireless Power Consortium Lists BlackBerry Z30 Supporting Qi Wireless Charging
I have been waiting to hear about Wireless Charging using Qi for awhile now. I was hoping the BlackBerry 9900 would have it but sadly it has yet to show up in any device even though BlackBerry has long been in the Qi Wireless Power Consortium group. Now CrackBerry spotted a listing in the Wireless Power Consortium website that points to the upcoming BlackBerry Z30 device supporting Qi Wireless Charging. That would be pretty awesome and possibly explain the built in 2800mAh non removable battery.
Check out the listing here
