Переслать - Toysoft releases Call Notes for BlackBerry 10
Ever wanted to automatically add a call note or SMS to your calendar? Well Call Notes can help! Call Notes will automatically add the entry in to your Calendar app, and then all you do is add the persons name and notes as you please. This takes tradition call log apps to another level because of the integration to the native Calendar app. Now because BlackBerry hasn’t opened up the API’s to developers fully, you do have to enter in the callers name (as mentioned above). But over all, I can see it greatly improving as BlackBerry opens more up to us in the future. If you’re looking to take that extra step in productivity or even just to remember when and where…. this app is for you! You can get your copy in BlackBerry World for $2.99. And as some of you might remember the legacy version of this, and yes this is the BlackBerry 10 version, I do not know if they will allow users to upgrade for free or not.

Переслать - BlackBerry Developer OS 10.2.0.1445 Beta Released (Crippled OS)
BlackBerry has finally gotten around to updating the developer SDK OS build for OS 10.2. This time we have OS 10.2.0.1445 beta for developers. Keep in mind this is a crippled OS that is not meant for day to day use. I have no idea why BlackBerry bothers crippling it especially since there are leaks abound that work just fine including this one. This update mainly includes:
- Updates and fixes for background/headless service support
- Ability to connect a device with the BlackBerry 10.2 SDK OS to BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 for testing BlackBerry 10.2 while using Balance
Developers can head on over and download the update while we wait for someone to hack it together into a non-crippled OS.

Переслать - Frogmind Announces BADLAND Game Coming to BlackBerry 10 (Video Demo!)
It seems like BlackBerry is making more headway with game developers for BlackBerry 10. Frogmind announced (via BlackBerryCool) that they will be bringing their hit game Badland to the BlackBerry Z10. Badland is a slick sidescrolling platformer style game that is simply beautiful. Переслать - Fieldrunners 2 Tower Defense Game Released for BlackBerry OS 10.2 Then Pulled…
If you are a tower defense game fan then you have most definitely at least heard of Fieldrunners. It is the classic and most popular tower defense game on iOS and Android. Bla1ze at CrackBerry noticed it drop in BlackBerry World earlier today and I had a chance to try it out on a friends device. The odd part is that the game was requiring OS 10.2 which is not even available yet. On the other hand it seems to be native and not an Android port which is slick!
Sadly it seems like either Subatomic Studios or BlackBerry pulled the game shortly thereafter even after some picked it up for $2.99. Hopefully it comes back shortly!

Those companies using BlackBerry Work Spaces just got another piece of the solution put into place. BBNews.pl noticed (via @banthon) that BlackBerry has pushed out a package of DataViz Documents to Go for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 10 (BES10) for Android and iOS. As they put in the description this version is just for users with a BES 10 installation. Here is the exact wording:

Переслать - BBM for Android & iPhone Landing Pages & FAQ Spotted – Not Functional Yet
It seems like this launch of BBM for Android and iPhone is coming very soon. Josef let us know that Andyrew510 on CrackBerryforums spotted the landing pages for the BBM for Android and iOS applications. They are not functional yet but they do get the point across with the message. Let us know when you see them update!
They also have this FAQ:
-
A PIN is your 8-character personal identification number on BBM. The PIN is comprised of a unique combination of numbers and letters assigned to each BBM user. PINs are used as a way to identify each individual member of BBM, and can be used to add a contact on BBM.
-
A BlackBerry® ID gives you access to BBM and any saved BBM data, among other things. After creating a BlackBerry ID for the first time, follow the instructions in the BlackBerry ID email to access all of the BBM features.
To view your current BlackBerry ID information, do the following:
1. Tap>
.
After a certain amount of time, if you aren’t actively using BBM, you might be prompted to re-enter your BlackBerry ID password. If you want to sign in with a different BlackBerry ID in BBM, you can reinstall BBM. -
Yes, BBM is free to download. Like many apps, BBM requires access to the Internet and contributes toward your wireless data usage when you’re not connected to a Wi-Fi network. Some wireless service providers offer ways for you to check your data usage so that you know whether your service plan is appropriate for your usage.
-
You can add contacts to BBM by scanning their BBM barcodes. You can also add contacts by typing someone’s phone number, email or BBM PIN, or by selecting a contact on your device. Contacts who don’t have BBM can download it from your invitation.
1. Tap
>
.
2. At the bottom of the screen, tap.
3. Follow the directions on the screen. To view your pending BBM invitations, tap
>
.
-
How do I find my PIN or barcode?
A PIN is a unique identifier used in BBM. People can invite you to become BBM contacts if they know your BBM PIN or if you show them your BBM barcode.
To find your BBM PIN or barcode:1. Tap your BBM picture or name in the top bar of the BBM screen.
2. Tap the QR code icon in the bottom bar of the screen.
Your BBM PIN will be displayed under the QR code image
-
If you've used a BlackBerry ID with BBM before, enter the same BlackBerry ID on the BBM Sign In screen. Your contact list will be restored.
Tip: Your BlackBerry ID is an email address. If you forgot your password, click here to recover it.If you switched from a BlackBerry device running BBM 6.2 or earlier and you still have access to it, do the following:
1. On your BlackBerry smartphone, update to the latest version of BBM and sign in using your BlackBerry ID.
2. On current smartphone, sign in to BBM using the same BlackBerry ID.Click here to invite your friends on Facebook and Twitter to download BBM and add your new PIN.
-
Plan events, track to-do lists, share pictures, and chat with up to 30 people in one group at the same time. For example, you can make decisions and confirm your plans in the group chat and then create an appointment that everyone in the group can see. If a group already has 30 members, you won’t be able to join until someone leaves the group or you can start your own group.
Whoever creates the group automatically controls the group membership, profile picture and name, and can disband the group and delete all of the shared information. Additional admins can be added after that.
Tap
>
.
Do one of the following: To create a group, tap
. Complete the fields. To see the groups that you’re currently in, tap
.
You can add members to a group that you’re in depending on the options that the group administrator has set. In a group, tap the group profile picture or name at the top of the screen. Tap Members. To invite more people to the group, tap Back > .
-
How do I personalize my BBM status or profile?
Let your contacts know what you’re doing or share your mood by changing your BBM name, status, or picture. If you have a status that you use often, such as a vacation notice, you can save it to use again later.
Tap your picture or name.
Do any of the following:
To change the name that your contacts see, tap your current name.
To change your BBM picture, tap your current picture. Tap
. Select a new picture or animated GIF to use as your BBM picture.
In the What’s on your mind? field, type a status.
-
What sounds can I set for BBM?
You can change the sound for BBM in your device settings. For example, you can change the volume and tone or select options like Vibrate or Silent.
When you ping someone in BBM, the other person’s device makes a sound (unless it’s set to Silent). If you don’t hear a sound when receiving a ping, check the sound settings on your device.
-
BBM includes different emoticons that you can use in your chats and status updates. You can type a 2-digit country code in asterisks to add a flag icon to your message, such as typing *CA* to add a Canadian flag.
BBM can also display certain emojis, which are special emoticons created for Japanese electronic messages and webpages. Your contacts might not be able to see emojis that you copy and paste from a website into BBM.
-
Why don’t all of my BBM contacts have profile pictures?
If some of your contacts don’t set a profile picture in BBM, you won’t see a picture for them in chats or in your list of BBM contacts.
-
The person might not have BBM setup yet. If you invite a contact who has BBM but your invite is still pending, the person might not have responded to your invitation or the person might have ignored your invitation.
To view your pending invitations, complete the following:
1. Tap>
.
2. Tap Sent. If an invitation remains in your Sent list for a long time, you can delete it. Just touch and hold the invitation and tap.
-
To remove a contact from your Blocked list so that you can become contacts in BBM, do the following:
1. Tap>
.
2. Beside the Blocked Contacts field, tap Edit. -
After associating your BlackBerry ID with BBM, your BBM contacts, profile, and group memberships are automatically backed up over the wireless network.
If you switch devices or lose your device, you can restore your BBM data by using the same BlackBerry ID that you associated with BBM. If your BBM contacts appear but you’re still missing some of your groups, you can ask someone from the group to add you again.

- Looking For a Great Writing App? Check Out Writer
Writer is a feature rich text and light weight writing app for the BlackBerry 10 Platform. Its clean UI gives a very clutter fre enviroment, which I find helps me write better, as there is very limited visual distractions. I have been using it to write my Best Man’s speech for a wedding I am in this weekend. Another thing that made me love this app, is the auto save feature, you don’t know how many times I have accidentally swiped the app closed, and had it save my rear. You can snag a copy for yourself for just $0.99 in BlackBerry World.
Here are some other feature of Writer:
- Word Count.
- Adjustable font size.
- Autosaving.
- Share, email your writings as text or files.
- Organize your writings into folders/subfolders.
- Sort writings by name or modified date.
- Many color themes to choose from.
- Backup/Restore.

Переслать - Sage Fusion 2 for BlackBerry 10, A New Take on the Classic RPG
Sage Fusion 2 by Kidalang puts a fresh spin on some of the classic RPG (Role Playing Game) styles games. They have built in almost a novel style of game play, that helps create a lot more depth (and addiction) than traditional RPG’s. This is also a sequel to the first edition of Sage Fusion which I know many of us have enjoyed. If you are looking for a great game to enjoy the long weekend, I suggest grabbing your own copy in BlackBerry World.
Sage Fusion 2 builds on the story and gameplay set by the first game, and improves them in almost every aspect:
- longer playtime (Sage Fusion 2 is roughly twice as long as the first game)
- more areas to explore
- more engaging battles and action scenes
- more interesting puzzles
- faster-paced story progressionSome of the game's most interesting features are:
- Story as the most important aspect of the game
- More than 120 hand-drawn backgrounds and story illustrations
- A lot of character interactions and dialogue
- Story-driven RPG gameplay with science fiction setting
- RPG-style turn-based battle system with no random enemy encounters
- Optimized control for touch screen – no virtual joystick
- Side quests
- No in-app purchaseCheck out the game play trailer and grab your own copy in BlackBerry World.

Переслать - Why Thorsten must be a scrabble fan
With the arrival of BlackBerry 10 came a new naming system for devices. Gone are the days of the 4 numbers with attached category names like Curve, Torch, and Bold. The Z10 was the first BB10 device out of the gate and I loved the simplicity. I have no idea what the Z stands for but due to its rarity in the english language it has automatic uniqueness. I thought that A10 might have been more appropriate and give natural succession however Z being the last letter in the alphabet it is infinitely cooler than A, the cool kids always sit in the back of the bus. The Q10 was a lot easier to figure out with its "Q"werty keyboard.
The other day I came across a post by user 00stryder on CB which opened my eyes. His avatar was the picture of a scrabble Z. For those of you who may have not experienced the board game for themselves, there is only 2 letters worth 10 points Q and Z. Add this to the fact that BB10 is a great gaming platform and has amazing language capabilities, and you can come up with some parallels which start becoming less and less coincidental. Mystery Solved Thorsten is a scrabble fan. I just can't wait until my Z10 lands on a triple letter spot…Z30!

Переслать - Study Finds iOS, Android, & Windows Phone App Stores Also Plagued by Zombie Apps
It is no surprise that the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Windows Phone Marketplace also are full of junk apps. While they do not have 1 developer responsible for 1/3rd of the apps they are also cluttered with piles of junk apps. This just goes to show what I have been trying to explain about quality trumping quantity. This study by mobile testing service StarDust tries comparing the three rival app stores though it does not include BlackBerry World. They found that 65% of the 617,436 apps on Apple's app store have never been updated and have fewer than 10 reviews (Zombie Apps). That compares to 41% of the 484,271 apps on Google Play and 69% of Windows Phone apps.
VentureBeat has more of the details on the study. I hope this just stresses further how little this game of "how many apps does your store have?" means. It is a useless metric when all that really matters is if the platform has GOOD apps. For me that means it needs the 50 apps I use regularly and I hope BlackBerry has directed all of their focus on cultivating those apps while promoting developers creating QUALITY apps and not quantity app spam.
