Переслать - Ninja Slice & Slasher Pocket Ninjas Hits the BlackBerry Q10 & Q5
One of my go to games on my Z10 was sadly missing when I switched to the Q10. Now Cocky Culture has updated the game to support the Q10 and Q5 once they ironed out the bugs and prepped it for the form factor. The game allows you to slash your enemies through the waves of intruders as you customize your badass ninja.

Переслать - WSJ Claims BlackBerry Considering Spinning Off BBM Into Separate Company
Another day and another rumor. Now we have the Wall Street Journal claiming that BlackBerry is considering spinning off BBM into a separate subsidiary that would operate with more independence. The company would be called BBM Inc according to these "people familiar with the matter" who claim BlackBerry is trying to setup the platform as a more valuable asset. They also claim that BlackBerry has been shifting executives into the team. The most interesting part of the WSJ article was the closing:
Many of these planned offerings have been in progress internally for years. A working cross-platform BBM service had been operable and ready to launch as far back as three years ago, according to people close to the company, before executives decided not to proceed. A desktop version of BBM had also been running internally years ago, according to this person, but executives chose not to bring that offering to the public either.
That jives with what I have been hearing for years…

Переслать - Samsung Starts to Advertise BBM on Galaxy Devices in Africa – Then Removes Ads…
We know that BBM is currently much more popular in some developing nations and Africa contains quite a few of them. We first saw Samsung put out a press release about BBM coming to their Galaxy devices and now we have more. Samsung has been ramping up the advertising there and recently Shao128 & Bla1ze@CrackBerry spotted some video and Facebook page marketing for BBM. Sadly both were quickly pulled. It will be interesting to see how much marketing muscle Samsung puts behind BBM compared to BlackBerry.

Переслать - Polarbear for BlackBerry 10 Goes Into Public Beta (Sideload)
The Polarbear app has been a popular utility for posting to multiple social networks at once. They are revamping their app and have been in private beta for a bit. Now that they are nearing the final release they have opened up a public beta for you to sideload. The app currently lets you post to Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Facebook Pages, Blogger, Google+ Activities and App.net. In other words if you use more than one of them then it is worth the download.
Check out the update on the Polarbear website for sideloading. Kudos to DJ Reyes @CrackBerry for spotting it.

Переслать - BlackBerry Gives the Built for BlackBerry Program an Update
I have been hearing from a number of BlackBerry developers about BlackBerry diluting the meaning of their "Built for BlackBerry" stamp. BlackBerry has been pushing the designation to differentiate good apps from the tens of thousands of crap apps in BlackBerry World. Its a noble idea and hopefully BlackBerry makes sure the bar stays high for approval since it has recently been lowered significantly.
With that said BlackBerry has added the following improvements for developers in the Built for BlackBerry program. This includes a:
- Developer Checklist: Details the refreshed criteria and steps needed to create a Built for BlackBerry app or game
- Expanded language support: Now choose from up to 34 languages
- Submit via BlackBerry Jam Zone: Experience fast and clear communications during testing process
- Increased visibility: BlackBerry World offers enhancements to make your apps and games stand out

Переслать - Let The Adventure For Tacos Begin: TacoQuest App is Now Available for BlackBerry 10!
You’ve seen the hints and tease on Twitter, TacoQuest. And for those of us who love the different forms and varieties of tacos, this app is a great tool in the quest for the best or different in variety. My favorites are the seafood tacos but there are many different kinds. Today the Quest is now available for all BlackBerry 10 devices in BlackBerry World. Granted, not everyone loves tacos (I find that hard to believe, but I’m sure there may be a select few out there), so this app caters to those with that taco craving, the taco connoisseur. Let’s take a closer look.
TacoQuest by the Waterloo based DinDin Kitchen, is a GPS based app powered by Foursquare. You need to have a Foursquare account and log into it in the app. You can also sign into your Facebook and Twitter so you can share your quests and faves with your friends and followers. To add a taco to the list, you must use your Foursquare. So how does TacoQuest work and what are the features?
You log into your accounts, you can find the Twitter and Facebook in Settings at the top. Help will give you some information on the TacoQuest and About tells you about the DinDin Kitchen Team who features Alex Kinsella, Derek Alldritt, and Chat Tetreault. Nearby Joints show you the nearest Taco places and you can check into a nearby one, and also you can find Nearby Tacos which shows tacos that have been added nearby. You can add New Joints as well if you choose the menu button on the bottom right. Oh, and by the way, the app is completely FREE!
You’ll never have to worry about wondering where you can find the best chicken tacos, crunchy beef tacos, or baja styled fish or shrimp tacos. Share and discover, and we can help each other find our way to the best and even the most different. Let the Quest Begin!
You can find more information on TacoQuest on Facebook here
Follow TacoQuestApp on Twitter here
Read more about the TacoQuest app from the official website here
But make sure you don’t lose out on present and future taco opportunities by downloading TacoQuest from BlackBerry World here

Переслать - Dear BlackBerry, Please Let Us Resize Pictures Before Sending Them on BlackBerry 10
One of the things that really jars me sometimes in BlackBerry 10 is how BlackBerry has done away with some of the nice efficiency improvements they have made over the years. On one hand we have features that have been improved like the File Manager and on the other hand we have the substandard notification system in BlackBerry 10. With that said one of the features I was really hoping to see in 10.2 was the ability to resize photos before I email them (and even show a progress bar as they upload in later versions).
This ability to resize pictures was added in OS 5.0 (I think) on legacy devices and I really enjoyed it. It allow you to easily select a different picture size to shrink images before sending and applying it to all subsequent images. This allowed you to email someone 40 pictures with ease. It was such a brilliant feature that other platforms lack. Now each picture coming out of my Q10 camera is a 1.3MB monster making sending them a pain.
So please BlackBerry can we get this feature back? Pretty please with sugar on top? I promise to write an article about how amazing it is. Better yet can you also add the ability to resize pictures in the native photo editor? We can edit video but we cannot resize pictures… Priorities anyone?

Переслать - Screenshots of BlackBerry Link 1.2 Leak Out Showing UI Update
It seems like BlackBerry Link is finally getting some refinement with the upcoming v1.2. This version was caught on camera by my buddy Bla1ze @CrackBerry showing off some UI improvements. On top of that they are focusing on making the app more usable and ironing out the buggy backup, sync, and other options. There are also fixes coming in for remote access and other improvements. Hopefully they also stick a V8 engine in the app to speed things up!
What do you think BlackBerry should add in BlackBerry Link?
