- SoundHound Updates and Adds Ability to Delete to History
SoundHound is my favorite apps when it comes to identifying a song. I loved it most and was so happy to see it come to BlackBerry 10. The app that allows you to identify and discover music has been updated in BlackBerry World to v1.1. Check out the changelog and let us know if you use SoundHound and what you like about it. If you haven’t loaded SoundHound to your BlackBerry 10, now’s a great time to do so, especially since it’s FREE!
Changelog:
- Added delete functionality to history
- Save searches as pending when there is no network
- Faster and improved search
- Bug fixes
You can download the latest version of SoundHound if you have it by going into BlackBerry World and My World, then click on updates. If you want to download SoundHound, you can download SoundHound for BlackBerry 10 here.

Переслать - Hallelujah! BlackBerry ID Replaces Code Signing Keys For Developers
BlackBerry had finally gone and simplified the idiotic asinine ridiculously complicated Code Signing process. Developers can now use their BlackBerry ID to store their code Signing credentials instead of keys.
BlackBerry ID support is now included in the BlackBerry Native SDK, BlackBerry AIR SDK and Android tools. Support in the BlackBerry WebWorks SDK will be coming in its next release. Check out the details here.
Finally!!! Not sure what took BlackBerry so long to fix this crappy requirement. They should be shouting this from the rooftop!

Переслать - BBM Channels Updated In Beta Zone
BlackBerry has updated the BBM Channels app in the beta Zone today. The new update shows that they are listening by improving quite a bit of the functionality. Check out the details below:
· New Updates Tab: A new, easily accessible updates filter can now be found in the Updates section! Effortlessly switch your updates view between 'All', 'Contacts' and 'Channels'.
· Comments with PIN or CPIN are now Blocked: getting sick of spam? Wish people would stop posting their PIN in comments? Now your subscribers won't be able to post their personal PIN or Channel PIN in the comments.
BlackBerry 10 Users Only:
· “Start Chat” Button: From the Chats tab you can now quickly start a BBM Chat with a contact by selecting the new chat icon!
BlackBerry OS Users Only:
· Threaded Comment Notifications – Following the conversation is easier than ever!
· Favorite Channels – Highlight your favorite Channels to control which notifications you receive.

Переслать - Why It Would Be A Mistake For BlackBerry, Or Most Smartphone Vendors, To Go Android
I keep on hearing this speculation on what would have happened if BlackBerry had just gone with Android instead of developing BlackBerry 10. I have answered this quite a few times personally and BlackBerry's CEO Thorsten Heins has also stated that it would have just been an arms race of small hardware differentiators. Mary at ZDNet does a great job of breaking down in a nutshell why it would be and continues to be a bad idea for any vendor. The main problem is that Samsung is the only company really making any money on Android. Just to give you an idea Samsung MADE 94.7% of all Android profits in Q1 2013. That left LG with 2.5% and the last 2.7% for the remaining Android vendors like Sony, HTC and Google's Motorola. On top of that Samsung is making the money because they make the screens, processors, and flash memory that goes into the phones.
In other words BlackBerry going to Android would have probably been a unmitigated disaster…

Переслать - BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins Would Make $55.6 Million on Sale
It seems like BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins has quite a bit to gain from BlackBerry being sold. According to a proxy filing BlackBerry put out and had approved in May (via BusinessWeek) the actual sum is $55.6 million if BlackBerry is sold and he is terminated. If he is just terminated he is eligible for $22 million package. That includes quite a few different compensation numbers but it is in line with what other CEOs have in place according to BlackBerry's proxy filing.
Its interesting to see how the market is pushing towards a sale now that BlackBerry has said it will entertain offers instead of just looking into it. In truth though it does not seem like much has changed.
