- Verizon Updates BlackBerry Z10 OS 10.1 Change Log – Rumored Release Tomorrow
Almost a month ago Verizon posted up a PDF describing the much delayed and awaited 10.1 OS update for the BlackBerry Z10. Sadly that never materialized and users are still stuck with the dated OS 10.0.9. Randy Miller pointed out to us that Verizon has recently updated that change log with a new OS version. The previous version had OS 10.1.0.2050 (Software v10.1.0.2014) and the new one has OS 10.1.0.2151 (Software v10.1.0.2039). I didn't notice any other big changes but its a sign of movement.
Also worth noting are multiple rumors of this OS version rolling out on July 26th. Miller confirmed as much with multiple Verizon support individuals but that has happened before. Hopefully tomorrow we will be reporting about the new OS rolling out!

BlackBerry continues to add improvements to the social apps for BlackBerry legacy devices. The latest is Facebook v4.1.0.15 that landed in the beta zone. It mainly focuses on improvements and bug fixes to the UI including:
- Refreshing Friends list
- New More Actions button image on Cover Photo
- Read message status updated correctly in Messages Quick View panel
- Updated default images for user profiles
- Improved scrolling & navigation under certain conditions
- Improved loading and updating Friend's Profile Picture

BlackBerry is still "right-sizing" their ship and the media is all over it. CTV reported that BlackBerry has laid off 250 people from one of their product testing facilities in Waterloo. According to CTV:
The company says the changes will help BlackBerry "increase efficiency" and scale the company "correctly" for new opportunities.
My guess is they will sadly need to cut more of the fat so that they can perform more like a startup and execute faster.

I was really hoping this traffic was coming soon to BlackBerry maps on BlackBerry 10. Now TomTom has announced an updated agreement with BlackBerry to bring real time traffic to their maps app. They didn't say much else beyond this statement from BlackBerry:
"Having accurate and up-to-date traffic information integrated in BlackBerry Maps is an important feature for customers, and TomTom is a recognized leader that provides traffic data to many companies in the market," said Adrian Gould, VP of Handheld Software Product Management at BlackBerry. "We are pleased to expand our relationship with TomTom in support of BlackBerry 10 customers."

BlackBerry just announced that Cameron Vernest is now the Managing director in Singapore and Philippines. As the Managing Director of Singapore and the Philippines at BlackBerry, Cameron Vernest would now be responsible for driving the growth and success of BlackBerry in both markets and building and cultivating BlackBerry's relationships with various partners. He will be overseeing many various functional areas such as sales, marketing and operations.
Being with BlackBerry for more than four years now, he was previously the Country Director for Philippines. In his term, he propelled BlackBerry to be the #2 selling smartphone in 2012 there. Prior to this, he was Head of Distribution Sales and Retail in Thailand, bringing BlackBerry to a milestone there with one million BlackBerry subscribers. moving back further in history, he has also held various roles in finance and commercial operations in Canada as well as Singapore.
Cameron is a Certified Management Accountant and holds an M.B.A in Finance and Accounting from the Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honors from the University of Guelph, Canada.

It will come with a recommended retail price of S$528. As the lowest end BlackBerry 10 device, this is the main device that BlackBerry hopes to use to revive the market here.
Coming in 3 colours, Red, White and Black, the omission of pink is rather sad as that was the colour many of my friends were aiming for.

We seem to be seeing a lot of good applications slowly making their way on to BlackBerry 10. And this morning with the launch of Trulia, it is no exception. Trulia is a well known real estate site that lets users browse homes for sale or rent on the go. With the launch of their BlackBerry app, it becomes even simpler on device.
Here are a list of its key features:

BlackBerry mentioned that there was going to be a bit of management shakeup this quarter. The latest to fall out of the tree is David J Smith according to the Wall Street Journal. Smith was EVP of Mobile Computing and resigned for personal reasons and is continuing on to ensure a proper transition. Smith was in charge of the PlayBook since right after its 2011 launch. The latest rumors say that his is just the first of more middle management that is being laid off.

The BlackBerry A10 just can't stay under wraps. The device now has another major leak thanks to BBVietnam. They have scored both high resolution pictures along with video of the device. This device is looking pretty much locked down for carrier testing so I doubt any changes are in the works. This is a tool that should have been released years ago! It is an application, that lets the users input test the functionality of their device. Whether it is bad audio, or screen feedback, the app helps you try and determine if your device is running up to snuff or could use a tune up. For some reason this app gone unnoticed since release in May, and is available for BlackBerry 10, as well as some legacy devices. It is written by Research In Motion, so there is no worry that the app is a port, or by someone just fooling around. Want to see if your device is running right? Get your own copy for free in BlackBerry World. Please note, that this app mainly test device functionality, and doesn’t go to much in depth in ways of hardware performance.
