- RIM Lists What App World –> BlackBerry World Change Means to Developers
I have had a few developers ask me what this new name for BlackBerry App World will mean for them. In case you missed it RIM announced at BBJam Asia that they are rebranding BlackBerry App World to simply BlackBerry World. This is intended to highlight that there will be more content than just apps. Still there are some practical implications for developers stemming from the simple (new BlackBerry World badges?) to the complicated (New URL for BlackBerry World?).
RIM thankfully provided some preliminary insight into what the change will mean to developers in a blog post. This includes:
- We'll be releasing updated marketing graphics for developers to use on their websites and other marketing materials
- We'll be rolling out the name change to all store fronts starting mid-January 2013
- BlackBerry PlayBook tablet customers will see the updated store name in a future build, but video and music content will still be only available via the separate Music Store and Video Store applications on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.
- Customers on BlackBerry OS smartphones (OS 5, 6, 7 and 7.1) will also see the updated name and continue to benefit from new titles as they are developed for the BlackBerry OS platform, however the video and music content will not be available.
- The BlackBerry App World web store will become the BlackBerry World web store before the launch event on January 30, 2013
- Deep link URLs are not changing – the same appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/[appid] URLs that you use today will continue to work
I bolded the two items I think are most important. Let us know if you have any other questions you want us to ask RIM!

Переслать - Two Free BlackBerry 10 Icon Sets for Developers
If you have ever developed an app before you know that one of the struggles is finding an icon set that works aesthetically with the target platform. Long time BlackBerry developer, formerly of mblware and now part of the RIM Developer Relations Team, @chadtatro was also struggling with that issue. He has been tasked with creating sample apps that showcase specific APIs or features in BlackBerry 10 which is awesome. He pointed out two icon sets from Liz Myers and Pixle that follow RIM's BlackBerry UI Guidelines.

- Awesome Look at BlackBerry 10 Hub & Contacts in Latest Video
Our friends across the world at BBin managed to score some great final videos of BlackBerry 10 from BlackBerry Jam Asia. My favorite is this ten minute long video they did with Vivek Bhardwaj, Head of Software Portfolio at RIM, showing off the awesome central BlackBerry 10 Hub and contacts application. I have to say it looks beautiful below:

Переслать - BBCopter10 Wi-Fi Controlled AR Drone Quad-copter Demoed at BBJam Asia
One of the cooler demos coming out of BlackBerry Jam Asia was caught on video by Tunaoriginal (via Nerdberry). In the video the developer is showing off the AR Drone Quad-copter being controlled in real time over Wi-Fi by a BlackBerry 10 device. They even pull off flips! This app was quickly ported to BlackBerry 10 using the new Appcelerator framework that is coming shortly. While this functionality is already available on Android and iOS it is great to see how easy it is to port to BlackBerry 10. Well worth a watch:

Переслать - RIM Gives Us Another Demo of BlackBerry 10 Camera Time Shifting
One of the slickest features of BlackBerry 10 that RIM has shown us so far is the time shifting camera. Until now they have shown us a similar demo but Arun Kumar, Sr Project Manager for Multimedia at RIM, did another demo this week. This time Kumar is showing off a much later build of this feature which allows you to not only time shift faces to get smiles but also to time shift the whole picture. Either way it looks pretty cool. Check it out below:

Переслать - Upcoming BlackBerry 10 Accessories Spotted on RIM Price List
We have seen quite a bit of the BlackBerry 10 L-Series but not much in terms of its accessories. We knew there would be some OEM alternative back covers but Tamas @BerryBlog.hu scored a price list from RIM of upcoming accessories for BlackBerry 10. In there are some of the usual suspects including a leather swivel holster. We do see transform shells (aka different color back covers) in black white and red. Also of note is a BB10 multimedia dock, which should be interesting. Let us know what you think of the list!
