- BlackBerry 10 Keyboard – Vivek Bhardwaj Gives us the Scoop [VIDEO]
It's no secret that BlackBerry fans love their keyboards, and for BlackBerry 10 we wanted to make sure that the typing experience is unmatched. Who better to show us around the keyboard than Vivek Bhardwaj, our Head of Software Portfolio and demo man extraordinaire!
He explained that we not only wanted to design the keyboard to be BlackBerry visually, but also to show the thought we've put into innovations in touch screen typing. At BlackBerry Jam Americas he told me that his favorite feature was the ability to switch between languages. Now, he's got a new favorite – the spacebar. We'll let him explain:

Basically, if you miss hitting the spacebar as you type, the keyboard is designed to recognize that and automatically add spaces between your words when you hit it next. This allows you to keep your train of thought and keep typing without having to go back and add spaces. Typing without interruption? Count me in.

Переслать - Action Starts for India and Thailand BlackBerry Users
We live in a busy world with more connection to international cultures than ever before, but are we really taking the time to appreciate it? Recently I connected with some members of our teams in Thailand and India about something I thought was pretty cool. In August, they launched an initiative called "Action Starts Here" with the goal of inspiring people to take action to get things done. The symbol of this charge is the BlackBerry "spark" — the white star icon with a red background on your BlackBerry device — which has been known to inspire action in more than a few people I know. The teams opened the response up to the community to share their own "action item" they wanted to perform.
The folks at BlackBerry India were nice enough to share a few graphics surrounding the pledges made by their BlackBerry device users, and I've shared them with you below. Seriously, how great is it that 24% of pledges have to do with friendship?
But what I enjoyed more than the taglines and commercials was the response from the people. Some pledges were very straightforward ("Run," "Quit smoking," etc.), while others were far more personal and complex. For example, Teach for India fellow Himani Sanghvi pledged to set up a computer and resource-sharing center for her school, which is in Dharavi, a slum in the suburbs of Mumbai. While this may seem a lofty goal for some, Himani's dedication is the embodiment of BlackBerry people in action, and hopefully helps to motivate all of us to accomplish our own pledge to get things done.
Learning about the "Action Starts Here" initiative is inspiring me. Tell us what action you'd like to start in your community.

The latest LinkedIn app update for BlackBerry 6 and 7 smartphones is now available. The new 2.1 version allows you to walk into any interview or client meeting with the ability to connect with over 175 million professionals worldwide, in real-time. We've heard great feedback on this app and we're excited to share several new features with you that are available in the update! The updated app is available free for smartphones running BlackBerry 6 and BlackBerry 7 OS.
The LinkedIn app update makes it even easier to stay connected on the go by allowing you to sync and merge your LinkedIn connections with existing BlackBerry contacts in your address book. And, with the new "Groups and More" tab, you can view saved and recommended jobs and access, add, view and participate in the groups that matter to you most.
Jobs
The new LinkedIn "Groups and More" tab allows you to access even more key areas of LinkedIn right from the navigation screen, including jobs. With this feature, you can easily access the jobs you've saved and browse ones that are recommended for you. And remember, when you're done looking at jobs you can get back to the main navigation screen by tapping the LinkedIn logo at the top left-hand corner of the app.

Переслать - App World Wednesday: 4 Radical Retro Arcade Games for your BlackBerry Device
Earlier I blogged about Gamer Nostalgia on BlackBerry Devices, which was a roundup of some old school, nostalgia-inspiring games for BlackBerry smartphones and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. After reading a few reader comments it occurred to me that beyond the games we played on ancient consoles in our parents' basements, we also filled our pockets with quarters and travelled to a quintessential geek hangout to play our favorite games – the video arcade.
As an arcade fan, I had to highlight some of the incredible arcade games now available for BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets in the BlackBerry App World storefront.
- Gauntlet (IN) by Electronic Arts Nederland B.V.: In this game, players must select one of four mythical characters – Thor the Warrior, Merlin the Wizard, Thyra the Valkyrie and Questor the Elf – and use their player's unique strengths to reign supreme. As a youngster, my parents saw this game as a way to teach me about the merits of individuality. While I didn't exactly grow up wielding a sword like Thor, I like to think my childhood top scores in this game speak for themselves.
- Pac-Man – FREE Trial by Electronic Arts Nederland B.V.: The 8-year-old arcade fan boy in me is overjoyed to know that the graphics in this arcade classic haven't deviated from the original Pac-Man. The grownup in me enjoys the game's modern-day features like Bluetooth multi-player connectivity. For hardcore Pac-Man players, try the Championship Edition.
- Space Invaders Evolution by Electronic Arts Nederland B.V.: One of the most memorable and arcade games is now available on your BlackBerry smartphone! Get ready for your intergalactic mission to eliminate the source of the space invaders, the Mothership. Are you ready to save the world?

We have officially kicked off our third annual #BerryHoliday event, and I'm stoked. This is my first year involved with the contest, and I'm genuinely excited to see the entries start to roll in from #TeamBlackBerry. I can't tell you how many times I've been on chatting with someone on BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), trying to explain something, and realize it'd be a lot easier to just pick up the phone and talk it out. Thankfully, BBM 7 has me covered with BBM Voice. It's available now in BlackBerry App World for devices running BlackBerry 6 OS and higher with support planned for smartphones running the BlackBerry 5 OS early next year.
NOTE: Please be aware that it may take up to 24 hours for the app to be available in the BlackBerry App World storefront.

We can't believe that it's already December, #TeamBlackBerry. Where did 2012 go? As the year winds down, it's time to crown our final BlackBerry Fan of the Month (FOTM) for 2012. Last month, we were excited to announce the first FOTM from outside of North America; this month, we're celebrating another first as we announce our first FOTM from Latin America (Colombia, to be exact)!
Our December FOTM is the definition of a BlackBerry pro—by connecting his BlackBerry devices, he's been able to cut down on the use of PCs and carry out almost all of his work on his BlackBerry Curve 9300 and his TWO BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. This FOTM isn't all work when it comes to his BlackBerry devices, though. When he's not blazing through the 100+ emails he typically receives in one day, you can find him placing video calls on his BlackBerry PlayBook tablets or chatting with friends and family over BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) (he can hold up to 15 conversations at once!). Pretty impressive, huh?
Without further ado, it is my pleasure to introduce you all to our December FOTM. #TeamBlackBerry, meet Zalman (@Zalman5K):

1. How many years have you been on Team BlackBerry?
Since 2007, when it wasn't that well-known. Back then I already knew how useful it could be as a work tool.
2. How many BlackBerry devices have you had in total? Could you list them all out for us?
Perhaps 4 or 5. I remember clearly that the first one was a BlackBerry Pearl, then one from the 8500 series, a Bold and now a Curve 9300. But I'm anxiously waiting for the new line with BlackBerry 10.
3. What are your favorite BlackBerry applications?
UberSocial and HootSuite to manage my social networks, mainly my Twitter account (@Zalman5k), BlackBerry Travel to manage and organize my trips, AP Mobile to stay informed, Nobex Radio to listen to my favorite radio stations, and of course, BBM and WhatsApp to talk all day long with all my contacts.
4. What is your favorite BBM emoticon?
Big Smile
5. How many BBM contacts do you have?
Right now, 93. I try to have all the people I talk to the most in my contact list…
6. Tell us about the best BBM you’ve ever received. What did it say and who was it from?
I couldn't really say which one has been the best. I work as a Life Coach & Business Coach, and every time someone writes to me with good news about their progress, or about getting good results after all their hard work, those are all messages that fill me with joy.
7. Do you have an all-time favorite BlackBerry memory? We'd love to hear about it!
Honestly, every day I build a best memory with my BlackBerry. When I receive a message, I share pictures, videos or content with the people I love the most… The best memories are those when distance is erased and I can be near the people who make me happy thanks to my BlackBerry.
8. We've seen you tweet about BlackBerry 10 a good bit and we're so glad you're excited for the launch! Which BlackBerry 10 feature are you most excited to try?
All of them! It's packed with very useful work and connectivity tools, but without a doubt, the ones that I look forward to the most are the selective photo editor to choose segments and go back in time for that image, the multiple working environments, having all the connectivity by sliding the page and, of course, video calls.
9. We see you constantly promoting your love of BlackBerry. How many of your friends have become member of the BlackBerry family because of it?
Hehehe, quite a few, almost 10 new people and almost the same quantity or more people switching from other brands to BlackBerry, because it's a reliable and secure device and platform.
10. Your Twitter profile says you are a "Coach, Consultant and Strategist" – how do you feel you most influence people's lives?
My job is to thinking differently, and I focus on being a facilitator and agent of change, both for the people and companies I get the chance to work with. My intention is to influence them in the best way possible, applying all my knowledge, so that they see their own lives as a collection of dreams that can be fulfilled, reached and surpassed!
That's how I try to create an environment for the person or the company who seeks me out, for them to have a new vision and act on their present and on their best possible future. You can always do better! And if you dream it, you can do it!
11. You seem to be very excited by our Generation BlackBerry challenge. Have you entered? What makes you so excited about it?
I like sharing with all of #TeamBlackBerry, and when I have pictures to share it's always a pleasure — the same thing with contests and activities. The best thing is being able to meet other people, get to know their interests and things they like, but above all, see how they view their world through their BlackBerry.
12. Last but not least, are you prepared to handle the fame that comes with being our Fan of the Month?
Hahaha it's an honor and my pleasure. I like knowing that I'm the first person from Latin America and specially having the opportunity of being with #TeamBlackBerry for the end of 2012 and the start of 2013 with the new BlackBerry 10! But the fame is not mine to keep, the brand deserves all of it, it has made my life easier, it's helped me be more efficient and, without a doubt, it has made my life easier… No doubt about it: I love BlackBerry!!!

¡Hola, #FamiliaBlackBerry! No podemos creer que ya sea diciembre… ¿Cómo pasó tan rápido el 2012? Llega fin de año y es hora de elegir al último BlackBerry Fan del Mes de 2012. El mes pasado anunciamos al primer Fan del Mes fuera de Norteamérica y este mes volvemos a incursionar: ¡elegimos al primer Fan del Mes de Latinoamérica (más precisamente, de Colombia)!
Nuestro Fan del Mes de diciembre es todo un experto BlackBerry. Al conectar sus dispositivos BlackBerry, ya no necesita usar tanto su computadora: ahora realiza casi todas sus tareas desde su smartphone BlackBerry Curve 9300 y sus DOS tablets BlackBerry PlayBook. ¡Pero este fan no solo utiliza sus dispositivos BlackBerry para trabajar! Además de revisar sus más de 100 correos electrónicos diarios, realiza videollamadas desde sus tablets BlackBerry PlayBook o chatea con sus familiares y amigos por BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) (¡puede mantener hasta 15 conversaciones al mismo tiempo!). No es poca cosa, ¿verdad?
Después de tanta introducción, es un placer para mí presentarles al Fan del Mes de diciembre. #FamiliaBlackBerry, este es Zalman (@Zalman5K):
1. ¿Hace cuántos años eres parte de la Familia BlackBerry?
Desde el 2007, cuando aún no era tan conocido pero ya tenía una buena idea de hasta donde podría llegar a ser funcional como herramienta de trabajo

Han sido tal vez cuatro o 5, recuerdo mucho que el primero fue un BlackBerry Pearl, luego alguno de la serie 8500, un Bold y ahora un Curve 9300 pero espero con ansiedad la nueva línea con la serie BlackBerry 10
3. ¿Cuáles son tus aplicaciones BlackBerry preferidas?

No sabría decir cual ha sido el mejor, trabajo como lifeCoach & Business Coach y sin duda cuando una persona me escribe con buenas noticias sobre su avance, o los buenos resultados de su esfuerzo tras su trabajo son mensajes que sin duda me llenan de felicidad.
7. ¿Cuál es tu mejor recuerdo de BlackBerry? ¡Nos encantaría que lo compartieras con nosotros!
Mi mejor recuerdo con mi BlackBerry realmente lo construyo cada día, cuando recibo un mensaje, comparto fotos, videos o contenidos con las personas que más quiero… Los mejores recuerdos aparecen cuando la distancia se borra y puedo estar cerca de las personas que me llenan de felicidad gracias a mi BlackBerry
8. Hemos notado que enviaste muchos tweets sobre BlackBerry 10, ¡nos alegra que este nuevo lanzamiento te entusiasme tanto como a nosotros! ¿Qué función de BlackBerry 10 te mueres por probar?
Todas! Esta cargado de herramientas de trabajo y conectividad muy funcionales, pero sin duda dos de las más esperadas son el editor selectivo de fotos para seleccionar segmentos y devolver la imagen en el tiempo, los múltiples marcos de trabajo, disponer de toda la conectividad con deslizar la página y claro, la vídeo llamada
9. Sabemos que compartes tu entusiasmo por BlackBerry con todos, ¡y nos parece genial! ¿Cuántos de tus amigos se sumaron a la Familia BlackBerry gracias a ti?
Jejeje bastantes, cerca de 10 nuevos y un número igual o superior que han dejado otras marcas para llegar a BlackBerry por ser un equipo y plataforma segura y confiable.
10. En tu perfil de Twitter indicas que eres "Koach, Consultor y Estratega". ¿En qué aspectos eres una influencia para otras personas?
Mi trabajo es pensar diferente, y me enfocó en ser un facilitado y agente de cambio, tanto para las personas como para las empresas con las que tengo oportunidad de trabajar. Mi intención es influenciar de la mejor forma y en la medida de mis posibilidades y conocimientos a estas personas de manera tal que puedan ver su vida como una suma de sueños que se pueden cumplir, alcanzar y superar!
Es así como trato de generar un entorno para la persona o empresa que me busque, logre tener una nueva visión y acción de su presente y su mejor futuro posible. Siempre se puede estar mejor! Y si lo sueñas, lo puedes superar!
11. También notamos tu entusiasmo por el desafío Generación BlackBerry. ¿Has participado? ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del concurso?
Me gusta compartir con toda la #FamiliaBlackBerry y cuando tengo fotos para compartir siempre es un placer, como todos los concursos y actividades, lo mejor es poder conocer otras personas, sus gustos, intereses, pero sobre todo tener una visión de como ven su mundo desde su BlackBerry
12. Por último, pero no por eso menos importante, ¿estás preparado para la fama que genera ser el Fan del Mes?

BBM Integration
Discover and add BBM friends and initiate BBM chats right from within the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones app. Better yet, launching a BBM chat is seamless so you can easily chat with your friends about their latest updates.
Share your PIN
You can now share your BlackBerry PIN with Facebook friends and discover which of your Facebook friends also have BBM. Try it out and watch your social network grow. Once you've discovered who's on BBM, just tap on the new BBM icon to invite them to become a contact. Simple!
Un-Friending
We all know the type – that one person on your list who is constantly oversharing. You can now easily un-friend someone directly from within Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones. Perfect for dropping newsfeed hogs while on the go.
Photo Redesign
Other than the BBM integration, this is my favorite feature because I love sharing and viewing photos on Facebook. This update gives you faster viewing of your photos, and at a higher resolution. You'll also be able to view thumbnails of all of your photos for easier browsing, or full-screen photo viewing for when you want to get the big picture. Also, you can now save photos to your device/media card.

Fewer smartphone users are relying on their mobile devices to make calls. According to a study by O2, the most popular smartphone activities are mobile browsing, social networking, and playing games. Turns out, making or receiving phone calls came in fourth on the list, followed by texting and emails.
Earlier this fall, we asked fans if they prefer BlackBerry Messenger (BBM ) or texting to stay connected to friends and family. Can you guess which service won out?
