My dream of one login to rule all my BlackBerry services is coming closer to reality. Well RIM has followed through with the Jam Zone earlier than expected and you can now use your BlackBerry ID to login to the Developer zone. Check out the details and FAQ about the change on the DevBlog and how to integrate your accounts. Kudos to the RIM Dev team for making this happen!

Переслать - Blips Brings 60s/70s Comic Book Sound Effects to Your BlackBerry
I used to love watching old Batman reruns back in the day just for the humorous over the top sound and visual effects during fight scenes. We are talking about the big splat signs with "POW", "Sploosh", "Zapp" and more. It was just truly comical to see especially when you compare it to action scenes in current shows. Generation Media Group capitalized on this classic by creating Blip. Blip lets you play and visualize the sound effects from back in the day. In short it makes for an awesome prank and is even better when you pull it out at the pub. It packs 28 sounds, 12 sayings, 18 backgrounds, and 6048 different combos of words.
Check out Blips for $0.99 in App World. Here is a clip from one of the old Batman fight scenes. You can try to recreate it with Blips.

Переслать - Leaked Pictures of New BlackBerry Bluetooth Speakers & Colorful Headsets
RIM has had a line of branded accessories for awhile now usually created by a third party. We have not heard much about what they have planned for accessories with BlackBerry 10 but it looks like we just got a peek thanks to MacBerry.de. These are still rumors for now but one of the accessories caught on camera is a slick Bluetooth portable speaker that has a sort of detachable battery. It also has a microphone for speakerphone calls along with a visor attachment for use in your car and a headphone connector. Supposedly the quality of the sound is comparable with devices in the "100 Euro range" so it should be interesting to see how it stacks up.
Another possible accessory caught by MacBerry is a line of new colorful HS-250 Bluetooth headsets. They will be coming in a rainbow variety of colors and what I really like is a physical on and off switch. It uses microUSB to charge with a talk time of 5 hours and standby of 200 hours and can connect to two devices simultaneously.
What I would really want to see RIM develop with a partner for BlackBerry 10 is a solid Pico projector for business presentations along with a device to stream video and apps to your TV.

Переслать - Get set – Get up! Alarm Clock for the PlayBook
I have run into a few people using extra PlayBooks as a PC and alarm clock for when they are in bed. Get set – Get up by Anna Malchow-Perryman wants to capitalize on that trend by creating an alarm clock that helps you remember why you need to wake up. It sets shorter snooze intervals and gives you an indication of how much more shut eye you have left. It also includes:
- Progressively shorter snooze intervals with adjustable total snooze period
- Clear visual indication of how much time you have left
- Ticker-text displays your ‘notes to self’, motivational quotes etc.
- Wake up to your favourite music
- Visual pre-alarm before the alarm sounds
- Temporary silencing on touch anywhere gives you time to rub your eyes and think before you hit Snooze or turn the alarm off
- Night-light
- Easy time-setting (no fiddly spinners)
- Adjustable brightness
- Volume setting independent of settings in other apps
- Battery indicator and low battery warning
- Detects and warns if device is not charging properly
- Landscape or portrait mode
- 12 or 24 hour mode

Переслать - Mugen Power Releases 3600mAh Extended Battery for Bold 9900/9930
Mugen Power has taken the lead with a new extended battery for the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930. The new extended battery packs a whopping 3600mAh. That is almost 3 times the 1230mAh that the OEM Bold battery has. The main sacrifice is the 3rd party battery door that comes with the battery which juts out of the sleek Bold. The Mugen Battery has already sold out on their website but you can order now for it to be shipped on September 21st.
You can find the Mugen Power 3600mAh Extended Battery for BlackBerry Bold 9900 with Battery Door for $98.95 on their website. Let us know if you order one! Kudos to BBEmpire for spotting the release.

Переслать - Mobihand Shuts Down its App Stores – Backup Your Apps Now
This has been a long time coming but it looks like Mobihand, the company that also ran the BerryReview Store, is shutting down their third party app store business. The sad truth is that for awhile now Mobihand has not been paying partners or developers but we kept them around for the users who bought apps through there in the past and for giveaways with coupon codes. Sadly even that use has died down with RIM focusing on BlackBerry App World along with BlackBerry 10 and PlayBook apps only being available in App World.
Now Mobihand has posted the following announcement on their website:
What a fabulous ride we had!
From San Francisco to Indonesia, from Brazil to Moscow, for eight years we served millions of worldwide customers with their app needs and delivered hundreds of millions of downloads.
We enjoyed the rise of many different platforms. BlackBerry and then Android were the biggest. And we suffered through the fall of others. Goodbye Palm and maybe BlackBerry?
Remember when we downloaded apps onto a PC and then sideloaded them through a cable to our phones? Today, our apps are discovered, downloaded and updated with very little effort right onto our devices (phones and tablets that we could not have imagined when we started). We are proud to have pioneered many of the innovations that all mobile users enjoy today.
We lived through all of these changes, including the entry of some very large companies into the app industry. These companies changed the industry with their massive resources and easy access to existing customers (which some of them vigorously protect by closing their app systems).
Domination of mobile app distribution by a relatively small number of large companies has made participation increasingly difficult for independent app distributors. While it was very hard to reach this decision, we have concluded that we have to discontinue our current services. We can only hope that the assets we built over the years will find a new purpose.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you over all these years.
The MobiHand Team
P.S. Customer accounts will be accessible for a few more days. Customers will be able to re-download purchased apps or get their activation codes, but no upgrades, new codes, or swaps will be available.
That means if you have purchased any apps on Mobihand or the BerryReview app store in the past we highly recommend you download them and backup the serial codes. I would also recommend keeping a some record of purchase since some kind hearted devs may take that into consideration in the future. Definitely let us know how it goes. It is sad to see Mobihand go but the writing has been on the wall for awhile now.
