- RIM Remains Committed to the Consumer Market
Coming out of yesterday's Q4 Fiscal 2012 Earnings Call, we've received comments and questions from our customers about RIM's commitment to the consumer market. To be really clear, we are fully committed to the consumer market. In fact, we are aggressively focusing on delivering a unique and compelling user experience to all of our customers to enhance the way people engage, produce content, and manage data via mobile computing.
The consumer market is vast, so rather than trying to be all things to all people, RIM will focus its talent base and homegrown software and services on specific areas of the consumer market where BlackBerry® excels — which includes delivering a great mobile social and productivity experience – and we will look to existing and new partnerships to provide additional compelling apps and services that customers want and love.
We understand that buying patterns are rapidly changing for both consumers and enterprise customers. Smartphones are now just as likely to be purchased by consumers and taken into work to be used as their go-to work phone, as they are to be supplied by employers and used by employees on the weekend. We feel we are uniquely positioned to deliver a smartphone that consumers will be excited to use both personally and professionally that will also satisfy their employer's needs for security and data management.
BlackBerry® 7 was a big step forward in this journey. BlackBerry® PlayBook™ OS 2.0 is another strong example of our commitment to delivering a powerful mobile computing experience. As part of the lead up to BlackBerry® 10, we will continue to seek partnerships with application and service providers to deliver consumer features and content that are central to the BlackBerry value proposition. We believe these partnerships, combined with our core product offerings, will provide an extremely attractive experience to both consumers and our enterprise customers.
We are excited about our renewed company focus and hope our partners and customers are excited as well.
If you have questions or comments, please share them with us. We promise to read them all and come back and answer as many as we can.

Now we're excited to remind you about the upcoming Government Day, which showcases some really innovative applications and helps you face the ever-present challenges of mobilizing the workforce in your industry.
Government Day at BlackBerry World™ is taking place on April 30th, 2012 in Orlando, Florida, and targets the unique needs of government organizations with content that highlights how BlackBerry solutions are used to help mobilize teams, streamline operations and efficiently deliver public service.
We have a great line up of speakers and sessions:

Переслать - Join us at BlackBerry 10 Jam for hands-on time with BlackBerry 10 tools and…
(Originally posted on the Inside BlackBerry Developer’s Blog)
Registration for BlackBerry® 10 Jam in Orlando is underway and we're getting excited about all the speakers, sessions, and labs that you'll be able to experience. Did I say labs? Yes, labs – and lots of them – run by our BlackBerry 10 development experts. But for labs, you need tools, right? You do. And we will have them. We will release the first beta of the BlackBerry ® 10 Developer Tools at BlackBerry 10 Jam! These toolsets will include:
- BlackBerry® 10 Native SDK
- BlackBerry® 10 WebWorks™ SDK
- BlackBerry® 10 SDK for Adobe® Air®
- BlackBerry® 10 SDK for Android™ apps
One of the best parts about BlackBerry 10 Jam will be the opportunity to have hands-on time with the tools and access to BlackBerry platform experts, who can help guide you, give tips and tricks and other info as you get started building apps for BlackBerry 10.
Not only will developer attendees get access to the BlackBerry 10 Developer Tools, but they'll also be receiving a limited edition developer prototype device – the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha™. This is not a BlackBerry 10 smartphone – it is a prototype running a modified version of the PlayBook OS which will help developers design their apps for the BlackBerry 10 smartphone form factor. Just to be 100% clear – it's not the final hardware or OS for BlackBerry 10 – it's a device to help developers get started with designing for what's coming. BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha is only for developers – not end users – and is only available to developer attendees at BlackBerry 10 Jam.
I also want to let you know now that space is limited at this show, so register sooner than later. We'll have more information on the BlackBerry 10 Developer Tools as we get closer to the show – so keep checking back here to the Inside BlackBerry Developer's Blog for more updates.

Переслать - Troubleshooting Email on a BlackBerry smartphone
Hey #TeamBlackBerry – Ritu from @BlackBerryHelp here with some useful information you'll want to know in case you run into difficulty sending and/or receiving email on your BlackBerry® smartphone. Within this blog post, you'll find some great tips that can help you identify what's happening so you can get up and running in no time.
1. Do you have a data capable mobile network connection?
The first thing you should check is whether or not you have a connection to the mobile network as well as the ability to send and receive data. To verify the mobile network connection status on your BlackBerry smartphone, tap on the Manage Connections icon that appears on your Home screen and verify if your mobile network connection is enabled. Provided it is enabled, complete the following steps to see if you are able to successfully send a PIN to PIN Message. This test will confirm if you have bi-directional data communication on your smartphone, which is required to send and receive email.
- Open the Messages app
- Press the Menu key, select "Compose Other", then "Compose PIN"
- Enter your PIN in the "To:" field
- Press the Menu key and select "Send"

Переслать - What is the future of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server? Discussing the Mobile Device Management (MDM) Product Roadmap
I'm thrilled to take the opportunity today to discuss with you Mobile Device Management (MDM) in the enterprise, and to present a clear picture of the roadmap for what many have known and loved as the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. Conversation has steadily heated up since BlackBerry® Mobile Fusion was announced, followed by the launch of BlackBerry® PlayBook™ OS 2.0 and the BlackBerry® Device Service for BlackBerry Mobile Fusion. Now the question has been asked: how do all of these pieces fit together, and where is it all going? You may also be wondering:
- Is RIM getting rid of BlackBerry Enterprise Server?
- What does the inclusion of Microsoft® ActiveSync® protocols mean for security?
- Can iOS and Android devices (both tablets and smartphones) be managed with BlackBerry Mobile Fusion? Will the management be secure?
- How will BlackBerry® 10 devices be managed?
BlackBerry Mobile Fusion: BlackBerry Enterprise Server and More
BlackBerry Enterprise Server has a rich history and is recognized as the most secure enterprise mobility device management solution available. Since its inception, the solution has grown in functionality, scalability, and a wide variety of other feature sets, and is now on version 5.0.3.
In the meantime, things in the market have gotten a bit messy and more than a bit challenging for IT administrators, IT specialists, and CIOs. Organizations are under pressure to support a wide variety of devices from multiple manufacturers, as well as multiple form factors, with tablets gaining steam as business tools. As a longstanding pillar of MDM in the enterprise, we've worked to provide a clean, simple, and secure solution to help you manage whatever gets thrown your way. This is BlackBerry Mobile Fusion. It's a huge leap forward for device management, and it's built on the valued security model introduced with BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The evolution of BlackBerry Enterprise Server is BlackBerry Mobile Fusion.
