- Developers Check Out BlackBerry Jam Starter Sessions in Washington, Austin, & Atlanta
BlackBerry is trying something new with BlackBerry Jam Starter Sessions in three US universities. They are going around to these universities and offering a one day program to teach you about coding, app building, and BlackBerry World submissions. They are still touting that 120,000 app number but that does not diminish the usefulness of working with a BlackBerry developer evangelist for free.

Microsoft has finally sealed the deal with Nokia by acquiring their phone division and patents. They explain that they need a "first-rate" experience for smartphone users that they are not yet providing. They want to compete with the strength of Google and Apple. This more or less confirms that neither Microsoft or Nokia will be involved in the strategic opportunities BlackBerry announced it was looking into. On the other hand it shows the value of the hardware and the software being made by the same company. Microsoft revealed it makes $10 off every current Windows Phone and this deal will net them $40. Engadget has the details.
Either way this acquisition should raise BlackBerry's stock based on the value Microsoft gave Nokia's patents…

N4BB spotted two patent applications for some of these UI elements including the virtual predictive keyboard and the toast notification system. Both were published late last month. I am not sure what took so long on this one but Rovio has now brought the classic Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons to BlackBerry 10. These games were available for awhile on the PlayBook and they were finally ported over now. The only one in the collection now missing is Angry Birds Rio which is hopefully just dallying around…

Michael Clewley at BlackBerry has confirmed on his BBM Channel over the weekend that BlackBerry does listen (sometimes). BlackBerry is going to allow users to change between a dark and light theme in the following apps: Calendar, Contacts, BBM, and SMS. I am not sure why they don't allow on all apps but something is better than nothing!

Now that Sprint has finally released the BlackBerry Q10 they have also decided to release a commercial. Kiavash pointed out the new commercial to us and I have to say I am impressed. I was expecting less with all of the screw ups in the Sprint launch. They actually do a nice job of highlighting the features of the Q10. Check it out below and let me know what you think!
