- BlackBerry World Update for BlackBerry 10 Brings Sorely Needed Improvements
BlackBerry World just got a nice new update that some of you with the latest leaked OS have already been enjoying. This new version update brings us to v4.4.2.18 and it packs some much needed functionality updates. Here is a rundown of the updates:
- You can finally scroll through enlarged screenshots!!! Seriously what took so long?
- Update notifications now show you a whole list of available updates. This was a no brainer!
- Performance enhancements for queuing multiple downloads. I am curious why it took so long until now…
- Defect fixes and other minor enhancements. We need WAY more of these!

So more and more buzz is flying around about cross platform BBM, and now Samsung Mobile Nigeria has tweeted the above. They state that it will be available this Friday, and they will have 3 months exclusivity to Samsung devices. We know Samsung has really been hyping this launch, so it is good to see it come to fruition. I wonder how long it will take to get the APK working on another manufacturer…. or if users with customs ROMs that might not have the right software identification to get it running? Let us know your thoughts on this below.
UPDATE: BlackBerry employee Victoria Berry was fast to correct the situation, NO one will get exclusivity of Android BBM.

BlackBerry just put out a release about their BlackBerry People's Choice Awards Winners from the Toronto International Film Festival. The results are in and the winners are 12 Years a Slave, The Square and Why Don't You Play in Hell? Check out the details below:

Winners include 12 Years a Slave, The Square and Why Don't You Play in Hell?
The Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF Festival™) has announced the winners of the BlackBerry People's Choice Awards. 12 Years a Slave, The Square and Why Don't You Play in Hell? were the most popular films as voted by Festival audiences in three categories.
12 Years a Slave won the BlackBerry People's Choice Award, the major prize awarded to the most popular feature-length film at TIFF Festival. The film, which tells the story of a free black man sold into slavery, was directed by Shame's Steve McQueen and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor.
The BlackBerry People's Choice Documentary Award went to The Square by Jehane Noujaim. It chronicles activism and unrest in Cairo's Tahrir Square.
Why Don't You Play in Hell? was awarded the BlackBerry People's Choice Midnight Madness Award for being the most popular film of the Festival's Midnight Madness programme. The film follows a renegade film crew that gets entangled in a yakuza clan feud.
The awards were created by the BlackBerry design team, who won a Silver IDEA award from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) for the design of the 2012 BlackBerry People's Choice Awards. BlackBerry also won honourable mentions from the IDSA for the designs of the BlackBerry® Q10 and BlackBerry Z10 smartphones.
"The BlackBerry People's Choice Awards recognize the ambition, creativity and hard work that made these films popular favourites with TIFF Festival audiences," said Andrew MacLeod, Managing Director Canada at BlackBerry. TIFF Festival moviegoers voted in one of two ways: in person at the movie theatre by submitting the ballot end of their ticket into an official BlackBerry People's Choice Award voting box, or by visiting the tiff.net/vote and using the tracking number on their ticket stub to vote.

Переслать - BBM to Be Redefined as it Celebrates 1 Year in the Collins English Dictionary
BBM just hit its one year birthday after it was included in the Collins English Dictionary. This was a big milestone for BlackBerry and its one year celebration is marked with another incoming milestone. The Collins English Dictionary will have to redefine BBM because it's current description as an "Abbreviation for BlackBerry Messenger: an instant messaging application for BlackBerry devices" will no longer apply once it goes cross platform.
Its formal definitions will stay true:

The BlackBerry Z30 might as well be officially released. The device was recently spotted and popped up in a CrackBerry forums thread right next to Sony's Xperia Z1. James also let us know about two new cases for the Z30 that have come up on eBay auctions. These new auctions are for the Soft TPU Gel Thin Bumper Frame Case and the Ultra-thin Soft TPU Rubber Bumper Frame Case spotted by Adam @CrackBerry. There are also third party cases starting to show up for the yet to be released device. Really makes you wonder what the hell is taking so long to announce the device…

So, if you’re like me… you love using Foursquare as a way to keep up with friends and what they are doing. Oh and stealing mayor-ships from others in the area. But sometimes while out with friends or family, you don’t want to pull your phone out to check in, or simply just forget. Well Magic4Square hopes to make all that a thing of the past. You can set up your venues to automatically check in when you are within a certain radius of them. It is super customize-able and is a little bit better than traditional auto check in apps that we had for Legacy devices. Check out some screen shots below. Now we are all awaiting the official launch of BlackBerry Channels via BBM. But in the mean time, we all have it available to us in the Beta Zone, and today it got an update. BBM Channels v 10.2.20.37 is a available to anyone who is a Beta Zone member and is part of the program.

We have all read about the mystery event Europe and Asia on September 18th. Well now Pocket Lint has posted an interesting report that this will be the launch event for the Z30. Pocket Lint has been pretty spot on with their reports, as their intel usually comes directly from RIM (BlackBerry) employees. They report that Malaysia will be the official event, with France and India being satellite events like we have seen with events in the past.
Here are the Z30 (codenane A10) specs again in case you missed them previously. The handset will carry a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 768, 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 2GB RAM, BBOS 10.2.0.1442, and a 2,880mAh battery. Other rumoured specifications include 16GB internal storage with microSD card support, Qi wireless charging, and a 8-megapixel camera.
The source has also stated that after the Sept 18th event, the device will launch in North America in the coming weeks. The Z30 is slated to be the premier BlackBerry 10 device, and replace the Z10 as the flagship.

Prophet Camera is an app that uses the camera to make funny moments memorable as gifs you can share. There’s a few things to note and I’m going to also going to include something very important. I’ve used Trend Micro for the last 6 or 7 years on my computers and laptops and I love how it works, quickly and never slowing down my systems and updating, keeping my computing devices in top shape and defended. I was so happy when BlackBerry and Trend Micro announced February 24th that BlackBerry would be incorporating Trend Micro’s Mobile Application Reputation Service and that current apps and newly submitted apps to the BlackBerry World storefront would be scanned for potential malicious behavior. Today Trend Micro posted an infographic which uses pictures and numbers of the Security features of our beloved BlackBerry 10.
I like how in the bottom right corner of the BlackBerry Z10 you can see the Trend Micro and BlackBerry mobile reference. I’m excited to see two top names in Security in one infographic! And the BlackBerry Z10. I’m partial to Trend Micro and the BlackBerry Z10, so it made my day!
