- More BlackBerry 10 Video Walkthroughs With Bonus Dropbox Icon Appearance
When Jeff first pointed these videos out to me I was not sure about posting them. After watching the Spanish narrated BlackBerry 10 Walkthrough videos from Movilzona.es (via Nerdberry) I noticed something peculiar. There is a Dropbox icon showing up in the apps and then also in the share menus. At first I thought it was just the Android app ported but then it would not be in the Share menu. Either way let me know if you figure out what it means or if you understand the Spanish. It would be awesome to learn that Dropbox is already working on an app.

Переслать - Oracle CEO Highlights BlackBerrys Continued Popularity
A friend pointed out that Oracle's CEO, Larry Ellison, highlighted an interesting statistic during his "Big Data" demonstration at OpenWorld. They were showing off their data mining prowess by analyzing nearly 5 million tweets and 27 data points in a scenario. Ellison mentioned that BlackBerrys were right up there with Android and iOS as the top device used for the tweets. According to the VAR Guy (via N4BB):
Ellison offered a key disclaimer: He isn't suggesting that it's time to run out and buy Research In Motion stock (RIMM). But he did suggest that perhaps all the doom and gloom surrounding RIM and BlackBerry is over-stated.
They were doing the data analysis to find who was he most ideal olympic athlete to potentially promote a Lexus car. (USA Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas was selected) Its nice to see one of the leading enterprise companies out there acknowledging RIM's large user base in the days leading up to BlackBerry 10. I am sure RIM is pushing heavily to partner with Oracle for their enterprise mobility solutions.

Переслать - BlackBerry Link the New BlackBerry Desktop Software
This will be welcome little tidbit for many BlackBerry users who have struggled with the inefficient bulkiness of Desktop manager or software, or whatever it has gone by in the past. BlackBerry Link should be the next generation of device management software using your computer and BlackBerry 10 device. Hopefully it is a major overhaul that opens up all information and media for management in a simple interface.
What would you like to see improved on in BlackBerry Link?

- Giveaway: StuffBak Security Label and Return Service
StuffBak is a service that makes it easy for consumers and businesses to link valuable mobile devices to an international recovery network. It's a simple idea that has proven to be effective. All you do is put a StuffBak label on your important device(s)…then you lose it! When someone finds the device, they see the label which encourages return with a reward and either call the toll free number or go to the StuffBak website. From there StuffBak either arranges for a courier to pick up the device and return it or the Good Samaritan can drop it off at any UPS location. They will be rewarded $20 which StuffBak covers. You also have the option of adding additional funds to the reward.
I don't need to tell you how nerve-wracking it is to lose your valuable electronics. With services like BlackBerry Protect at least you can remotely wipe and even locate your device, but getting it back is another story. Don't think that you'll get your Stuff Bak? I was skeptical as well but it's tough to argue with the numbers.
StuffBak has a proven track record:
- Edward Baig, in his USAToday article, intentionally lost 6 STUFFBAK-labeled portable items. 4 out of 6 were returned.
- Andrew Glassman, in his CNBC investigative report, intentionally lost 6 STUFFBAK-labeled portable items. 5 of the 6 were returned to him within 3 days.
- Across 15 independent media tests of StuffBak’s service, 75% of StuffBak-labeled items were recovered.
That's not too shabby considering the majority of items without one of these nifty labels are never recovered.
GIVEAWAY: 1 StuffBak Label including 2 years of free return service to one lucky BerryReview reader. Simply comment on this post! Good luck!
If you want to check out StuffBak's pricing and other offerings, check out their website here. You can get one label for $8.95 and other variety packs are also available.

Переслать - BlackBerry PlayBook Mini Keyboard With Convertible Case Now 40% Off! US Only
The Mini Keyboard with Convertible case has been a huge hit with PlayBook fans. Luis snagged one for review back in April. If you missed the review, check it out here. The mini keyboard/case combo initially sold out and now we're seeing stock coming back. A quick check just now shows shopblackberry.com (Canada) is out of stock again though. I came across a steeply discounted mini keyboard today on CostCentral.com. You can pick one up for $71.12 plus shipping costs. They're saying delivery times are between 2 and 3 weeks. Unfortunately they only ship to the US.
Have you seen any deals on mini keyboards? I have come across a few on kijiji (local classifieds site in Canada), but most stores haven't budged from the regular price of $119.99. If you do grab one from CostCentral, let us know!

RIM usually delivers an update to BlackBerry Bridge right before an PlayBook OS update, and now BlackBerry Bridge v2.1.0.26 is live on app world. An earlier leaked image shows the new feature that PlayBook OS 2.1 will bring, and for those with OS 2.1 beta it seems texting over bridge works. Переслать - Video: BlackBerry 10 Virtual Keyboard Closer Look
The BlackBerry 10 virtual keyboard is one of the coolest new features of the OS. With predictive, in-letter text and multilanguage support, it has the potential to change the way virtual keyboards are perceived. Lucas over at N4BB put together a video showing an up close look at the BlackBerry 10 keyboard. He runs through some of the keyboard options and demonstrates them on his Dev Alpha on the latest software build. Its great to see the keyboard in action and the options and settings available. I'm quite sure I'll go with the In-Letter option. The In-Column option looks similar to what is currently in use on the PlayBook, but the In-Letter option with the animations looks to be the most efficient typing option in my opinion. As a side note, I noticed how smooth and quick the dev alpha was when minimizing and switching apps. Definitely quicker than the PlayBook.
Check out the video below and share your thoughts on the BB10 keyboard! Which configuration will you go with? Any landscape typers out there?
Thanks for the video Lucas!

Переслать - Box Integrated Storage Solution Coming to BlackBerry 10
We have heard about super apps before. In 2010, the concept of a super app was introduced as being seamless, integrated, contextualized and efficient. The guys at Box are planning some tight integration of their cloud storage app for BlackBerry 10 and it sounds like it could be a great way to boost your storage capacity and keep the files that matter most at your fingertips. If its as seamless as hinted at in the following video it sounds pretty awesome to me. I love the idea of being able to store pictures, documents and videos without worrying about filling up the device storage limit. Although, with hot swappable microSD card support in BB10, you can easily multiply your storage that way. Box is still offering 50GB of free storage if you sign up through their PlayBook app. Check out the video and let us know if you use cloud storage and what you think of Box's BB10 plans.

Переслать - Shadowgun for PlayBook Updated to 1.0. Still Free!
We already heard about CreaVures and Shadowgun being released for the PlayBook. Union and BlackBerry have made things official by showcasing the apps on the Featured page of App World. They are both top notch games so I highly recommend picking them up as soon as you can. We've seen Union offer Muffin Knight for free for a limited time, but that was made clear when the app was downloaded. Since these games are advertised as 'Compliments of BlackBerry,' they should be free for the long haul…but go get em now just in case.
If you downloaded Shadowgun last night or earlier today, there is an update to version 1.0 that is supposed to fix some graphical and gameplay issues. It looks like there is actually an introduction to the game now as well. App World gave me an error when I tried to upgrade so I just deleted and downloaded again. Enjoy!

Переслать - BlackBerry 10 Codename Aristo Specs Leaked. Quad Core, 2GB RAM, 4.65" Screen and More!
I REALLY hope this is not a rumor. Specs for a hugely upgraded BlackBerry 10 device have been leaked. The device is codenamed Aristo and after looking at the specs your BB10 early adoption fantasies may or may not be delayed. Boasting a Krait Quad Core Qualcomm processor, a 4.65" screen with 1280 x 720 (16:9) resolution, a 2800mAh (non-removable) battery and 2 HD recording cameras, the Aristo is a beast. To put it in perspective, the iPhones screen is 640 x 1,136 pixels and the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8" display with 720 x 1,280 pixels. The GS3 is bigger, which means the pixel density on the Aristo is higher. Granted, by the time the Aristo is released (guesses?) I'm sure Samsung will have a more than viable answer when it comes to screen resolution. It’s interesting that the battery is non-removable. Full hardware integration might be necessary with 2800mAh under the hood. I like the removable battery option as I can quickly reset anytime and swap a drained battery for a fresh one if necessary.
Let's hope these are the real specs for the L-series as well, and not those other specs that were leaked a few days ago.
So what if the Aristo doesn't show up until much later than the less powerful L-Series? Will you still pick up the first BB10 device? Or hold off and wait for the Aristo awesomeness? Either way, the BB10 lineup just keeps getting better and better!

Переслать - BlackBerry 10 Gestures Illustrated
Gestures are one of the many things I love about the PlayBook. Once learned, they become second nature to navigation. I have heard too many tech reporters who have picked up a PlayBook or BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha A or B and dismiss the gestures as confusing before taking the 30 seconds to learn what they are. I think the gestures are awesome. They add to the magic of the UI and keep the hardware free of unnecessary buttons.
Since BlackBerry 10 devices will not have a trackpad, similar to the PlayBook, we will use gestures to navigate around. I'm guessing there will be a tutorial when users are setting up their devices and probably a help menu or prompts in demo mode reminding users about the gestures.
N4BB posted some shots from a PDF obtained from the BlackBerry website that shows what the gestures will be on BlackBerry 10 devices. Check out the pictures below and tell us what you think of the BB10 gestures. Would you add or change anything? I always liked the idea of a bezel scroll gesture where you can scroll through a webpage or document by swiping the bezel outside of the screen. Or maybe half on the screen and half off. That might reduce the number of accidental taps on ads and stuff. Just a thought. What do you think?
The keyboard gesture on the PlayBook (bottom left corner bezel diagonally into screen) will still work on BB10 devices to allow for one hand navigation.
